../ Virgin Introduces Digital Music PlayerVirgin Electronics announced a five-gigabyte portable hard disk player targeting the iPod Mini. It is slightly larger than the iPod Mini, but has 20% greater storage capacity and is a half-ounce lighter.Virgin Electronics, part of the Virgin Group, has major brand currency in the youth music market and could play a significant role in the crowded portable music player niche. The new Virgin player should be in stores in the beginning of November retailing at $249. The Future: Yet another entry in the portable market in time for the Christmas season. Virgin's player could make substantial inroads if it leverages the full bandwidth of its music connections.
