The Ultimate Mix Contest!
After the tremendous success of our groundbreaking The Next Big Thing DJ Contest, Futuremusic has decided to once again create a new paradigm. The Next Big Thing demonstrated the incredible vitality of the DJ market by unearthing large numbers of emerging talent across the country. By giving a DJ the once in a lifetime opportunity to open for one of the biggest DJs in the world, and receive the largest DJ gear prize package ever assembled, Futuremusic established The Next Big Thing as the premier performance-based DJ contest.

However, DJ technology has significantly changed since we launched the first The Next Big Thing contest. Many DJs are now utilizing non-performance based mixing tools and pushing the envelope of the DJ experience by developing mixes with the latest advancements. Therefore, we resolved to originate an all-encompassing contest that will address this vibrant new market, and also include traditional mixing as well. Experiments In Sound will be the very first contest to accept any type of DJ mix without any stipulation that it has to be performed live. It can be achieved via turntables, CD players, software, hardware, any way the DJ chooses! The only rule is that it has to be 60 minutes long.

But, if you know us, we couldn't just leave it at that...

Due to the exploding VJ market, we've expanded Experiments In Sound to include a separate mix category for video artists! Music-oriented, video artists have the opportunity to submit a 60-minute mix on DVD for a chance to win the latest VJ gear.
